Chuck & Jon In The Morning

What's New With Chuck & Jon In The Morning
Early summer is here
Posted 4/19/2010

A sure sign of summer this past weekend.  Snapping turtle laying her eggs right in front of our cabin.  Typically they do this in "early summer" and the young ones hatch in 8 or 9 weeks, generally toward late summer or early fall according to research my fantastic wife "Chainsaw" did on the laptop at the cabin.  Hey the dock is in and the water is 48 degrees.  The most interesting part was swimming under the raft to hook up the log chain and anchor.  Wow.  Swimming suit only in the boat yesterday.  Suntan already beginning to show.  Very hot on the water.  Happy early summer to all of us who love this season above all the others.  Chuck the "water rat."
Cheering

What a game won by Duke.  Butler had a shot from half court at the buzzer that would have given them a one point win.  What a shot that would have been.  But what about the real hero in the news yesterday.  A stranger from France jumped into the cold water in New York to help a dad save his toddler who had just fallen into the water.  The good samaritan then hailed a cab and left before anyone could get his name or properly thank him for helping to save a life.  I'd like to think we'd all have done it.
New Twins Home
Posted 4/5/2010

The Northstar train was packed with Twins fans.  Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe the new Target Field.  Even if you don't have a ticket or the "boys of summer" are out of town, you should take your camera and make a little trip like we did on Saturday.  It was almost as much fun as going to Disneyland.  Chainsaw and I took lots of pictures.  (Unfortunately I've got to resize them before I can post any for you to see.)
expecting...
Posted 4/2/2010

expecting..... to go to the lake for this Easter weekend.  My annual "walk on water" event was cancelled when the ice went out early.  You may remember that Peter walked on water and it wasn't frozen.  His focus was on Jesus.  You & your family have a blessed Easter.
snow by noon today
Posted 4/1/2010

It hurts to say this but Minnesnowta weather returns today.  I knew 76 yesterday was too good to hold on for the weekend.  6 inches starts today at noon.  knapper.

We went to the doctor yesterday.  Wow.
Earliest "ice out" ever
Posted 3/31/2010

I just got a call from my neighbor at the lake in God's Country, for those of you from Shakopee that's Wisconsin.  Ice on our northern Wisconsin lake went out this last day of March and that's the earliest ever.  If this is what global warming can do, bring it on.  LOL.  Seriously this is what a snowless March can do for a 65' deep 600 acre body of water.  My prop is ready thanks to the guys in Sauk Rapids and we're ready to dash and splash.  Knapper.

American Idol
Posted 1/14/2010

Sooooo.. I will admit it... I love American Idol.  I will admit that I do not watch every episode in any given season... but I still LOVE American Idol! I just have one issue with this season... While I think that Ellen will do just fine as a judge.. I think Carrie Underwood should be a judge.  At least for one season.  There... now that I have said that I feel much better!

Help for Haiti!!
Posted 1/14/2010

If you want to send a few dollars to help the people of Haiti it is pretty easy.  Just text the word Haiti to 90999 and they will add $10 to your phone bill and sent to Red Cross.  Anything you can do would help!

My remote died...
Posted 12/14/2009

A sad day in the life of Jon Engen over the weekend.  The remote control for my TV died.  I tried all the options to bring it back to life (i.e. changing the batteries, throwing it on the floor and stomping on it.) all to no avail.  I found myself actually having to get up from where I was sitting to change the channel!  How can a person live life like that?  I ask you???  So... I reached over, turned my radio to BOB FM and picked up a good book!  Now that was a great afternoon!!
Christmas Tree Steve
Posted 12/11/2009

Thank you all for your response to the interview Chuck and I did on Thursday and Friday with Christmas Tree Steve (did his mom and dad really name him that?) We need more trees and decorations to be sure but we also need to hear about those who need the trees.  If you or someone you know need a tree please give Mr. Steve a call!  All the information you need to get in touch with him is on our homepage.  Have a safe weekend!!!!
